Whitaker's sand boa

A medium sized sand boa,restricted to the moist west coast of India.It has a small head and a cylindrical body.Forehead scales are small,smooth and mental grooves are absent.The males have small claw like spur on each side of the vent( reminicent of hind legs as found in pythons and boas).It has a short and blunt tail.Generally it's brownish grey or dark brown in colour.The belly is plain grey.

Diet comprises small mice.

Distributed in Kerala,Karnataka,Goa and Maharashtra.Inhabits scrub forests and sea beaches and is fossorial.
